Great piece. Nice quotes from Dickinson, and the Latin translation helped, too – unlike Dan Quayle, I was not good at Latin :-/
I submit that we can make a difference through the states, especially now that a number of them have started to pass interstate commerce acts. Now, if we could just get enough of them to agree upon and ratify a repeal of the 17th amendment, we’d be on our way to taming DC.

But to what extent can we really “vote the bums out”? As long as we’re saddled with a broken voting system, all we do is churn through the Repubocrat bums!

Voting within the entrenched system gives us more of the same.

Term limits give us more of the same.

REAL choice would mean breaking free from the Duopolistic lock-down. Unless we have a system that treats ALL parties as equal contenders, where we are free to vote based purely on merits of the candidates and not strategic considerations, nothing will ever change. Work at your local levels to get a Condorcet method implemented for elections!
