On Friday, July 10th, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin signed House Joint Resolution 27 (HJR27), sponsored by State Rep. Mike Kelly. The resolution “claims sovereignty for the state under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States.”
The House passed the resolution by a vote of 37-0 (3 not voting) and the Senate passed it by a vote of 40-0.
Six other states have had both houses of their legislature pass similar resolutions – Tennessee, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma and Louisiana – Alaska joins Tennessee as the second to have such a resolution signed by the Governor.
A GROWING MOVEMENT
Passage of this resolution appears to be part of what is now a growing state-level resistance to the federal government on various levels.  Similar 10th Amendment resolutions have been introduced in 37 states around the country, and various states are considering single-issue legislation in direct contravention to federal laws.
Most recently, the Arizona Legislature passed a measure for public approval on the 2010 state ballot that would give Arizona voters the opportunity to nullify, or opt out, of any potential national health care legislation.
Since 2007, more than two dozen states have passed legislation refusing to implement the Real ID act of 2005. In response, the federal government has recently announced that they want to “repeal and replace†the law due to a rebellion by states.
Pending legislation in states around the country also includes preventing state law enforcement officials from enforcing federal laws, refusing federal gun regulations, refusing to send a state’s national guard to any duty other than what the constitution authorizes, legalizing marijuana for various purposes and more.
A FIRST STEP
While HJR27 is strongly-word in support of the principles of limited, constitutional government that the 10th Amendment represents, it is a Joint Resolution and does not carry with it the force of law. But supporters say that this is an important first step to get their message out not only to grassroots supporters, but to the media, and legislators in other states as well.

Relating to the Sovereign Powers of the State
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:
WHEREAS the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the peopleâ€; and
WHEREAS the Tenth Amendment defines the total scope of federal power as being that specifically granted by the Constitution of the United States and no more; and
WHEREAS some federal actions weaken states’ rights protected by the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States; and
WHEREAS the Tenth Amendment assures that we, the people of the United States of America and each sovereign state in the Union of States, now have, and have always had, rights the federal government may not usurp; and
WHEREAS art. IV, sec. 4, Constitution of the United States, reads, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,†and the Ninth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads, “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the peopleâ€; and
WHEREAS the United States Supreme Court has ruled in New York v. United States, 112 S.Ct. 2408 (1992), that the United States Congress may not simply commandeer the legislative and regulatory processes of the states; and
WHEREAS all states, including Alaska, find themselves regularly facing proposals from the United States Congress that weaken states’ rights protected by the Tenth Amendment;
BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature hereby claims sovereignty for the state under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution serves as Notice and Demand to the federal government to cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of these constitutionally delegated powers.
COPIES of this resolution shall be sent to the Honorable Barack Obama, President of the United States; the Honorable Joseph R. Biden, Jr., Vice-President of the United States and President of the U.S. Senate; the Honorable Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives; the Honorable Lisa Murkowski and the Honorable Mark Begich, U.S. Senators, and the Honorable Don Young, U.S. Representative, members of the Alaska delegation in Congress; all other members of the 111th United States Congress; the presiding officers of the legislatures of each of the other 49 states; and the governors of each of the other 49 states.

Her approval rating dropped 30+ points for Alaskans once they began actually hearing her LIE! As a mother she dropped the ball and ended up being a grandmother with an out of wedlock daughter. Christians have some answering to do to their “God”. If you’ve forgiven her, then I guess that’s ok. We all make mistakes. Well now, my user name says, “Simple Facts”, not, “Trivia Facts”. I posted simple facts that are readily available and widely acknowledged as accurate about Sarah Palin. My personal opinion was either in parenthesis, or I addressed it separately. You’re pattern of constantly sidestepping these documented facts then attacking my character emphasize you’re position here.
Of course now you’ll say that you’ve gone over all the items I’ve stated and I’m as naked as a jay-bird, exposed as some kookmeyer-nut job, trolling sites like this to spew worthless, anti-Sarah propaganda. I read with interest all the comments about Palin. I wonder how “pure” all these people are that “throw stones” at her. Watching the national news channels, or should I say the political mouth pieces do what they can to make her look bad, I would think that she has the establishment rather worried. The only other candidate that has been treated so badly was Allen Keyes. He also threatened to upset the program that was being used to destroy the whole makeup of our country.
In my humble oppinion, Sarah is still the best person to perhaps make the changes we so desperately need to rescue us from the disterous thing that is taking place due to Obominble and his crew of outright treasonous individuals propelling us into total distruction. However that has been the tactics used by the far left now for about 10 years when the Dems guy Clinton stood before the world and said “I never had sex with THAT WOMAN” … the world at that time stood by and ALLOWED HIM TO BLATANTLY LIE without kicking up much of a fuss.

Our Constitution is TRULY one of the greatest works ever to emerge from humankind. It’s not a perfect document. We amend it as new realities in our society advance. It’s a living growing base for human-created laws, the laws meant for humans. The laws of Creation/Universe are the natural laws that haven’t any need, nor can they, be changed. A flower will always be a flower in its untouched lifetime. It is perfectly living within those unchangeable laws of Creation. Not until humans, and their illogical laws, try and re-write nature for the flower, will the flower then become confused. Basing your position so blindly in something humans created and have deemed, “Perfect! Touch it and die!”, is stagnant( temporary writers block with the ‘stagnant’ part[but you get the point]) and so outdated. HaHaHa!…remember this one-hit wonder, “America, love it or leave it!”.

Just saw your last post Michael, will do.
I would love to see a resolution at the state level to “opt out” of mandated health reform, cap and tax, and forced unions. The federal government has completely trampled not only state laws, but personal freedom. As a small business owner, we are confronted with countless hours of work and money to comply with all the madness. Can’t government get out of our way? I don’t ask the government for bailouts and don’t expect one. It is way past time for people to rely more on their own merits and not expect those in power to “level” the field.
Or how about I personally opt out. I will pay my fair share of taxes for security of our nation and the powers granted by the constitution. Keep your social security and medicare. I don’t mind helping those who truly need help, I give back to our community and do not need someone telling me it’s not quite enough. I find it interesting that progressives praise Darwin, but can’t live by their own ideology (seatbelt laws, wear your helmet, etc.)
I truly hope that states begin to bring the constitution back ino balance. I applaud Sara Palin on taking the first step.
When I see how Sarah Palin has been treated by the “Media”, I can understand the mixed feelings of some of the people posting their comments on this link. You have to remember that the “news outlets” are only the vocal part of the leftists engaged in bringing down our wonderful USA.

Watching what is going on in DC reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, unfortunately it’s really happening to us. Just a bunch of Mad Hatters in power right now.
The only treason-leaning politicians in Washington are blue dog Democrats and Republicans. And to say poor Palin is being mistreated by the LEFT LEANING MEDIA is completely false. She makes great headlines for her constant blunders and pure nonsensical statements. The media is corporately controlled and will say whatever makes them more money, period. Let’s not be blind to the obvious.
In looking over all the comments on this link, I can see that a lot of people havn’t really studied history. What I am looking at is similar to the downfall of the Roman Empire. We have a large mercinary army scattered around the world, at great cost. Juat take a look at what is happening in South Korea. The distruction of the farms. How much of farmland is being covered by blacktop to accomidate shopping malls?? Take a look at the whores in congress. For those of you extoling “Slick Willy” or should I say Clinton who sold the the Chinese Communists our satalite controll secrets. We now have Navy Captains depending on satalite navigation. What happens when China shoots down the satalites??.
Not one of them understands celestial navigation. That would also disable our cruise missels.
As far as the difference between the two political partys. You can dump them into a bag, and when you dump them out, you couldn’t tell the difference between them. They would all smell and act the same way.
As for Sara Palin, I am not to sure, she seems to follow the same support for the isralie program as creatures such as Huckleberry, and other candidates accepting funding from the bankers.
But still and all. she stil seems to be the best choice to vote for.
As far as the legality of the federal government stopping the states from declaring sovereignty, take a look at the constitution. It states that the federal government shall not make war atgainst the states, period.
Now tell me that the civil war was a legal thing caused by Lincoln. After all the first shots fired were in Virginia after Lincoln sent federal troop in there to quell an uprising against federal intervention in states operations. It was not at Fort Sumter as has been written in out twisted history books.
If you take a really good look at what is happening in our country right now, can you tell me who was the right side to win the war??
Perhaps its time for “we the people” to STOP ACCEPTING a vote for the best of the worst and DEMAND a vote for the best of the best.
As long as 51% of the population has a hand out, is history illiterate, fails to use at LEAST the common sense of a gnat, feels the government is better equipped to think for them and is to lazy to get off their duff and fight for the freedom offered by our forefathers … things will continue to get worse.
It is actually fairly comical because that 51% will suffer the most.
Those who saw it coming will at least be prepared.
