This is defiantly something to uses in a election against him, can just imagine how it would look to know that he has betrayed the people of Oklahoma.

He just wasted the legislators time, they already did all the work HE vetoed it forcing them to do even more work. If this really was a wast of time he would have just signed it and gotten it over with.

Am I missing something? Hadn't the legislative time already been spent? Hadn't it passed? Now, it will go back to the Congress and use up time. Is it me, or is this governor very confused about how these things work?

Henry's out of touch with his people, or is more in touch with who he wants to work for when he leaves office in OK. I favor the TX govenor who has the brass to be a true patriot and lead the people who stll believe we are governed by a republic, as the US Constitution states. He forgets that he, and "they" work for us.

Ben -- see my previous comment (04/25/09, 2:20 a.m.) The Resolution will be sent back to the OK Legislature, where a 2/3 vote by both chambers will override Henry's veto. The House will vote overwhelmingly in favor of it again, just as they did before (when they passed it 83-13). The OK Senate is a little more worrisome, because although there is a Republican majority, the Senate's vote on April 15 was only 29-18 -- definitely not a 2/3 majority.

If worse comes to worst: Assuming we're still allowed to have elections in 2010, Sen. Randy Brogdon is running for Governor. If he wins, I think the Resolution's passage and signing into law is a foregone conclusion. That is, if it's not too late ....

Ravi- MO bill is in Senate Committee at this point. Passed the House without any problems.

What a spineless act! Oklahoma's governor is a stooge! Anyone read his veto message? There's no need to spend time supporting the Constitution? If he had any hutzpah, he'd have been honest and said, "There's no need to spend time curbing abuses of the Constitution." What a weenie. As far as the statement that he's "afraid it would do harm to his state's ability to get federal funding back," did he not miss that it was just a resolution? Perhaps one that might lead to his state's citizens not being taxed by the federal government so much in the first place? What a wuss. I hope Oklahomans see him for the disgrace that he is - a traitor to their own state.

Anyhow: All the veto means is that HJR-1003 will be sent back to the OK Legislature, where a 2/3 vote by both chambers will override Henry's veto. He's been pretty much despised here for years (except for bringing the lottery in), and I don't know anyone who's not glad his term is up in 2010.

How sad. I was looking forward to seeing the first state soverignty resolution get signed. Now, let's keep an eye on Alaska. It passed both houses... if the lovely Sarah Palin signs it, she will gain tremendous credibility among constitutionalists like us (although she's already in my good graces).

States' rights is absolutely essential for liberty. I'm not sure if we're going to be able to get this thing passed here in MO though.

He should be impeached for not demanding proof of
