If it were not for the propagandizing to all Americans for the last one hundred years , more or less, by the United States federal government , All Americans would be aware that the real power lay with the citizens themselves and the out of control government would be stopped in its tracks and those tracks pulled up so the only direction it could move would be in reverse , This much needed reversal would return to the American people all the much vaunted freedoms they have lost , and put us back under the constitutional law we have forsaken for personal gain over every one else . When we each are given personal gain over each other every one loses and no one gains but the government .

I propose a new way of thinking. There isn't a "people vs. the government" paradigm. There is a "people vs. people" paradigm. Now, once you properly know the differences between that portion of people being governed and that portion doing the governing, you will start to realize "might makes right," whether we measure might in terms of money, influence, weapons or something else.

I speculate that the reason why human beings seem to want to think that government cedes power to them versus people ceding power to it is that we naturally see government as a divine force on earth. We see ourselves as evil (and there is a great deal of evidence to support that conclusion) so we need something that puts a check on that evil. That something is government which is why when you talk about a society with as few laws as possible people automatically assume that all evil will break out on the earth. They see govt as the thing that puts a check on our evil inclanations.

The founders thought otherwise and believed that government was no different than anyone else and, in fact, it was much worse. For this reason, government was a necessary evil. When you see government that is evil then you don't see it as something that is suppose to place a check on evil behavior. That role more properly becomes the domain of your own religion and the state basically enforced contractual relationship between two people.

Absolutely. The Federal government (just like the State governments) are OUR agents, not the other way around. We do lose any authority, we simply delegate it until the government fails to meet our needs.
