You are so right, Belle. My daughter is at Hillsdale College and they have an incredible core curriculum, including Western Heritage, American Heritage and the Constitution. Thank God for a college like Hillsdale, it is an example of what education is supposed to be. Any parents out there please check it out!

If you are reading the actual Coxe text (and not the author's commentary), those 18th century spellings are in the actual document. I see no errors in the author's commentary. There are misspellings in the Constitution by the same logic (i.e. "chuse electors").

It is unbelievable that constitutional law is NOT EVEN OFFERED at the most prestigious schools anymore, let alone a core requirement. That right there should have given clues as to the liberals' end game.

Looks like the author leads us on (you might say lies): "but are there authoritative lists of those powers reserved to the states with which the federal government may not interfere?
Yes—many."

No, he gives not one. While these are fine lists, they are mere published articles, not documents agreed to and signed by delegates of the sovereign States. There is no "authoritative" list here at all. One man's opinion, learned and influential as he was, has no authority over the Constitution.

I like the lists. They are informative as to what the federal government should have no power over. They are a good summary of what is and is not in the Constitution. But 5 (of 9) Supreme federal appointees have taken the power to decide what powers the federal government has, so it is no wonder that they have periodically 'discovered' more and more powers for it over the years. The 9th and 10th amendments leave us with Nullification as options, and as a last resort, secession, if we wish to brave opposing the federal armed forces again. I hope it turns out better this time, but fear it won't.

Hamilton was a skunk and Madison was dupped by him until the first back room deal when Hamiltion wanted the Federal Government to take over the states debts from the revolutionary war or he would quit his office. From the get go the "federalist" wanted larger power over the states. When they begun adding more amendments to the Bill of Rights then began the errosion of States powers and breaking down the walls of checks and balances. This is why we need to restore the Original Ten!

It is amazing to me that we the people allow the federal government to deify the limitations placed on it by the Constitution. Just look at the list above and count the violations. We must act soon, hard and fast to put the federal government back in it's box. Right now, it's a runaway train, headed for the dung heap of history and dragging all the states with it.

In regard to the article above on "Constitutional Powers the States have and the Feds do not"; did not the Federal government in the period post 1865 and the Southern War for Independence violate or cause to be violated the 6th and 10th items listed in Freeman Number 1? For instance, the respective State legislatures no longer elect their Senators and many southron states under duress in the aforementioned post war period had their state constitutions rewritten to conform to a new federalism. The States now need to agressively take steps to reverse the counter-Constitution actions of the past and restore the Republic.
