I find the new push to regulate vitamins very suspicious because how many people have died of flinstone vitamin overdose? I wouldn't be surprised if some vitamin company has some already pre-approved FDA formula already waiting in the wings to be sold while already existing products will be jammed with years of FDA testing.

I think the fairness doctrine works kind of like FDA regulations – to the benefit of the big boys at the detriment of the good of the people – and their liberty.

That is a violation of freedom of the press because if someone has that freedom then they can use that freedom however they want and to actually mandate that someone has to cover something a certain way by demanding equal time then they are regulating the actions of some press outlet. It should be obvious that is violating someone's freedom because the government is telling them how to execute that freedom.

No. The perfect example is your belief that the reason the left espouses the fairness doctrine is to "squash" dissent. It seems like they are actually wanting THEIR dissent to receive fair coverage.

Nonetheless, I am not suggesting the fairness doctrine is good, so I don't care to engage in arguments pro and con. I am just saying you are better off realizing both parties are equally full of bull and leaving it at that.

I've noticed that leftist tend sqaush civil libertiries much more than righties but do it for different reasons. Think of the fairness doctrine. What terrorist organization would that have stopped? None but the point is is that the left does it to squash dissent while the right does it for a different set of reasons. I use to think that 'liberals' were into freedom but not anymore. They like to pursue idealogical purity and social creation policies such as suing school districts that don't have an equal number of boys and girls on the wrestling team. Do you see the difference?
