Your remark can be read to suggest that corporations (the rich) are "chasing" governments because they are big and powerful governments. I am saying that governments have become big and powerful "because" of corporations (the rich).

Was the federal government powerful, first, and then, afterward, the lobbyists all went there? IMO, it is the other way around. It is cheaper and more efficient to go around 50 states' governments and set agendas at a national level. And for this reason, corporations and the rich brought their resources there and grew the central government that way.

I maintain that proof lies in recent admissions straight from our politicians' mouths on both sides of the aisle. If our legislators haven't read the bills, there is no way they are writing them (presuming, if you write something, you know its contents). So, who is writing them?

Moreover, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, our legislators must really, really trust these people to allow them to have carte blanche with our law-writing. The legislators don't even review the work. The answer to the questions as to who is writing the bills – and WHY legislators don't even read them – will tell you who our government really is.

So – the problem is pretty clear to me – power – too much of it in too few hands.

It seems pretty obvious to me.

So, what are the odds of winning the battle if the REAL enemy is not defeated? At last, it must leave you to wonder if the tiddly-wink wins we have had in the past could possibly make any substantial progress without being checked by the true hands that control. Best not to be so committed to a Ghandi-like approach in this battle.
