With a faltering economy, multiple wars, and the approaching demise of the dollar’s reserve status, there are more than enough problems to keep politicians in Washington working day and night. In between handing out cash for clunkers and nationalizing healthcare, the administration is busy sending more troops overseas, escalating existing wars, and seeking out excuses to start new wars. Congress is working on “urgent†legislation to address crises like healthcare reform and climate change.
The reforms are so very urgent that legislation must pass swiftly with no time to read the bills even though the new laws wouldn’t take effect for several years! Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve is busy dealing with our dollar crisis by printing up more dollars.
Yes, there certainly is a lot for Washington to do these days. Most, if not all, of what Washington is doing however, is more of what created the problems in the first place. Capitol Hill is filled with politicians running around putting out fires – but with gasoline. The truth is that all these fires keep so many powerful people employed and wealthy that it is not truly in many decision makers’ interests to be very effective problem-solvers.
If Washington ran out of problems, think how many lobbyists would be out of a job, and how many special interest groups would just disband? Sadly, whatever is bad for the greater economy is good for the economy and job market in DC.
Of course, no form of government, not even one that respected its Constitutional restraints, would magically create a problem-free society. The question is: how should a society deal with its problems? The form of government that our founders envisioned, in which the federal government was strictly constrained by the Constitution, allows private citizens and communities to solve their own problems.
The role of the government should be to protect contracts, punish fraud and violence through appropriate laws, law enforcement and the courts. Not a whole lot of laws or bureaucrats are really necessary to work on just that. Instead, new laws are constantly needed to fix the problems that previous unconstitutional laws created.
We have ended up with an incomprehensible maze of laws and regulations that severely constrains the people and expands the government – the exact opposite of what our founders intended.
This is all because the Constitution is treated like a suggestion manual instead of the supreme law of the land. Under the Constitution, politicians’ hands are supposed to be tied in most of the areas they involve themselves in today. But somewhere along the line, politicians stepped out of Constitutional bounds and started pretending to solve our problems for us.
All we have to show for it is more problems.
Today, Washington politicians can busily “solve†one problem, knowing that unintended consequences from that “solution†will keep them and their friends all very busy tomorrow. The people are ultimately left suffocating under the burden of Washington’s helping hands. It is coming to a point where our economy, our dollar, and indeed, the rest of the world have had about all the help from Washington that they can stand.
The United States is headed the way of Rome and the Soviet Union, for the same reasons, unless we reverse the trend.
I continue to hope that enough Americans will realize that the true strength of our country doesn’t come from Washington, but rather the limitations placed on government in the Constitution. We must resolve to reverse the destructive course that we are on and then never again let big government problem-solving take over our lives and our country.

THE “NEXT†ELECTIONS BEGIN TODAY:
DO NOT WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW!
So quickly as to be nearly breath-taking to students of human history, in a time period spanning only a few short decades, these United States of America have been changed from the planetary center of personal liberty and dignity and neighborly-love toward other nations — into a massively-corrupt and immoral, atheistic, materialistic, socialistic, police-state with globalist-imperialistic, territorial plans and ambitions.
Our internal enemies, home-grown enemies of national righteousness, personal liberty and organized goodness have changed “The American Dream†into a bad copy of the worst days of the “old†Soviet Union! The Tenth Commandment, given through Moses in ancient times, made covetousness a sin against God and against neighbor. The Marxist-Leninist-Maoist underpinnings of communism and socialism and all other government-based, “wealth-redistribution-schemes†twists that spiritual SIN into a virtue: the twisting of truth is a giveaway; clear indication of satanic influence in men’s thinking! This twisted “truth†leads you and your children to embrace covetousness as a virtue!
How this devilish trick was pulled off so quickly should occupy the thoughts of every political commentator and the activities of every living historian. So many of our elected federal leaders, together with those “assistants†that they hire and appoint, are obviously not content with the authorities and powers that are assigned to them by the United States Constitution. (They covet.) Such leaders seem to regard themselves as Rightful Rulers Of The World, as descendants and now heirs of all of the power-mad tyrants of world history.
They must be defeated! They must be repudiated and “retired†from office and other positions of influence. Let the shadow-governors be cast back into the shadows. Let any and all men who govern Americans govern in the sunlight. Away with secretive leadership and with the puppets that they set before us! These usurpers and national traitors must be removed, ALL of them, from positions of federal power and authority.
Sworn defenders of the U.S. Constitution, they have made mockery of the oaths made when elected to office. They lied when they took their oath of office, and/or they are lying now as they “execute†authorities and powers and influences that they do not rightly have; influences and powers and authorities that they have stolen!
The “next†elections begin today: do not wait until tomorrow! Prepare now! Study the record (not just the speeches) of sitting leaders. Identify the enemies of our Constitution and of our nation and of ourselves and our children—who they hope to enslave in their “New†World Order (which is truly as old as Satan). When, by their wicked deeds they have been identified and properly “designated†for what-they-are and not just what-they-pretend-to-be, TELL someone. Tell a relative. Tell a neighbor. Tell ALL of your relatives and ALL of your neighbors. Don’t wait for news publishers and news broadcasters to tell them. Many news publishers and news broadcasters have become as unreliable and corrupt as the leaders that shower them with favors and gifts. When you’ve finished your necessary work of preparing yourself with knowledge and understanding, YOU will be the news publisher; YOU will be the news broadcaster!

It's not magic, it's the central theme of the founding fathers: Liberty.
'Liberty' is the right to have, express, and act on one's opinion.
America was set up as 13 (now 50) separate sovereignties with liberty to govern themselves in all matters not delegated to the General Government in the Constitution. Instead of one approach dictated by a National Government, America should have 50 approaches determined by each State. Out of these 50 approaches, one would surly excel and be adopted by the other 49 States. The result would be the determination of excellence in government by trial and error rather than theory. All unintended consequences would be reviewable by demonstration before adoption by other States.
The founding fathers had it right & any variation from their scheme is moving in the wrong direction.
The USA is so controlled by it's first dictator and his comrades that most of its citizens don't realize that overnight we lost our republic. The speed at which they are shoving new socialist legislation through "the process," proves that the republic is gone. There is some hope that in next year's mid-term elections the Liberals will be voted out, but the dictator has already promised 10 million illegals amnesty, guaranteeing their vote.
This take-over was a well orchestrated plan and our only true hope, besides informing our friends/family/neighbors of this "Trojan Horse," is to turn our hearts back to the founder of this nation - Almighty God.
Ruth, I doubt that Obama is the first - destroying your freedom wasn't done overnight. It's just that a lot of people have only started noticing in the past year....hopefully they don't close their eyes again if the opposition regains power in DC!

Dr Paul always has such an eloquent way of presenting the basic facts in.a way that makes you feel like you are reading about them for the first time. Well put, once again sir.
I 100% agree with everything you said. The founders were wise to the brilliant ideas that promoted freedom and respected the individual hundreds of years ago. Thanks to them and all those who fought for independence the U.S. has been able to achieve so much in our short history. Yet it seems American's are doomed to have to relearn the simple lessons that exist repetitively through out history.
How do you make people see what's been and continuing to be done to our country. I am a hard working, blue collar, high school dropout. Yet I understand (at least in a basic sense) the fundamentals of free market economics. As well as the principles regarding freedom and the logical view of what constitutes slavery. For myself, I consider these ideals not just a philosophy, but time tested truths and absolutes. Facts.
Why is it educated and smart people can not accept the truth? Even when there is so much history to back it up. I am willing to do anything it takes to know that my daughter will not be stuck with this socialist police state. I never want to hear her tell me about being maced or tased for attending a party. But if something is not done soon I cringe to think about what society will consider acceptable use of force by the time she is a young adult.
So, again I wonder how. A person is smart, but people are irrational and easily frightened.
Clearly the supreme law of the land - too bad almost no one in DC other than Dr. Paul ever pays attention to it!
