I applaud the efforts of states to re-establish the proper relationship which should exist between the states and Federal Government. Whle the Constitution does give the Federal Government a limited ability to tax it does not give the Federal Government the power to exercise monetary exortion over the states. Let us be careful how we use the word "Constitutional." To the federal government "Constitutional" means "we can do anything we want, if we tie it to either the commerce clause or the necessary and proper clause." To freedom loving citizens, "Constitutional" means the Federal Government is limited to those powers originally intended that they should exercise--and nothing more.

A Federal Tax Escrow Account might be one way to correct the situation which now exists: the Federal Government withholds or grants funds to pressure states into obedience to Federal dictates. The act of nullification serves as a check on the Federal Government's un-Constitutional (the freedom loving citizen's definition) practices. Nullification protects our individual liberties: let's have more of it!

Don, if you want to lay down and take it go ahead, but we are the posterity of our forefathers and we will fight for freedom. If you want to read passivity into the constitution, go right ahead, don't worry while you are there doing nothing the rest of us will be fighting to keep our independence and freedom. I guess we will be fighting for you too!

So, Don - are you saying that 'We the People' should just genuflect and continue to take it as long as we're allowed to choose our tyrants every few years?

Do you believe that is what the founders recommended to counteract unconstitutional actions by the federal government? If so, you're seriously wrong.

"Ordered Liberty" should be our perpetual goal. Our constitutions provide the order. Our action to protect liberty needs to be under the auhtority of our constitutions.

Do we respect the U.S. Constitution or simply want to assert "our" independence? The Constitution grants the Federal Government the power to tax. The Constitution gives "us" the power to change our Congressmen every 2 years. That is the remedy for bad taxes: New Congressmen. There are many available remedies to federal overreach. Withholding tax revenues is not one of them. We need to solve problems under the Constitution, not in violation of it.

The federal government is NOT an agent of our state. It is a limited combination of our states, created by "We the People" NOT by the states. The states do need to guard the limits, and assert their constittuional prerogatives. But violating the Constitution is not the way.

P.S. "Personal sovereignty" amounts to moral anarchy. It is Justice Kennedy's radical mantra, NOT consistent with ordered liberty.

In NY state we have lost a hind leg already and Schumer, Gillibrand and governor Paterson are trying to tell us that the federal government will give us a power scooter (obama care) if we give another leg. The federal government has the batteries ( tax dollars collected or printed) and they will only charge them so long as they don't need a third leg. Soon we will be without legs, batteries and of no use. The feds just keep eating even though they are way too fat already.
