Todd Shoenfelt – check out that link posted – there’s a 30+ minute audio interview with a constitutional scholar giving a full lesson on habeas – including just what the founders meant by UNLESS. It’s very limiting – and there’s been maybe 1-2 times per century that such a thing could even happen…

Good Ol Honest Abe (Dishonestly) had his Military arrest (without charge) About 2000 citizens of Maryland,,,Just for saying,,,,Mr President,,That is agents the Constitution,,,,and they did not get out till DIshonest Abe was brought to Justice,,,(Killed).

I know what they meant. They naively believed our overlords could be trusted to interpret that phrase the way it was intended. They believed that about the commerce clause and the general clauses too.
