I just don’t understand-and maybe the tenth amendment center can interview some Nebraska State Reps and ask them how they feel about state sovereignty-but WHY would a STATE require kids to bow to the federal government? If you’ll read the *true* history of the ratification of the 14th amendment you’ll see we didn’t “contract” anything away. It was wrangled from us by the “Radical Republicans” bent on punishing the South for the “Civil War”.

Justice Storey’s work was used by Abraham Lincoln to “quell the rebelious” Southern States and his misuse of power was the final nail in the coffin for the Constitution. EVERY usurpation of power by the Federal Government from that day hence is Lincoln’s Legacy to the world.

13 colonies formed a federation of states and granted very limited and clearly defined powers and authorities to handle the few things that they believed could be better handled on a cooperative basis. All other powers and authorities were reserved to the states and to the people respectively. The federal government was granted no rights as our rights were endowed by our creator and we have no authority to give them to government.

You are right. I never thought about those words. Just something I was taught and know by heart without thinking about what it’s saying and if it’s true.
