@ Michelle is it? popular has been around a very long time, far before Obama. Popular is uniformed choice and that is what it is. A Republic is well defined and knowable and is hardly popular.

Very few in this country take the time to evaluate and the results of our daily lives living proof this is the case. More bad decisions happen every day because of popularity rather than a full understanding.

I did not come here to be fair, I came to be honest which is always unpopular.

Popularity cheated us and this why ignorance grows leaps and bounds over intelligence.

Shawn is correct. The civil war STARTED because the northern states instituted unfair sanctions on the produce of the southern states that limited their ability to market their goods. Ft. Sumpter, for those of you who do not know, was a Federal taxing facility.

@ Dan Hunt At the time the southern states left the union, slavery was still constitutional. It would have, at that time, taken an amendment to the constitution to prohibit slavery. With 15 “slave” states and 19 “free” states, that amendment was not possible. I’m pretty sure the southern states were aware that a 2/3 vote was needed. Your statement “The south lead an insurrection against the U.S. to preserve slavery” is just wrong. The south was tired of subsidizing northern industrie. Read your history.

@ William that’s an unfair statement. Most Americans didn’t vote for Obama…he cheated his way in. Those who did are fools. I didn’t vote for him and I definitely haven’t forfeited my rights. Do not make generalizations like that about the people of this country.
