Immigration is in the minds of the progressive as a way to dilute the texture of the United States and maike the constitution malleable to be molded into a more irrelevent document. The move then will be to transform the nation into a more marxist state where by God and Country becomes a MOOT endeavor. It isn't about protection it is about transitioning. Arizona needs to stand firm and other states need to back them up. Draw the line in the sand or lose it. We cannot afford to be lukewarm about our country any longer or the masses will be to large to do anything about it.

Well, had the states agreed to tranfer authority over the control or regulation of immigration to the central government by some such provision in the constitution, then there might be a legitimate argument to be made in favor of the federal government's illegitimate position in this crucial matter. As it is, though, and as Hamilton said in Federalist #33, these are merely acts of usurpation by the larger society, and deserve to be treated as such.

Deporting someone outside a state boundary does not affect their citizenship status since deportation does not alter their citizenship status. It is possible to move someone out of the state and the deportee still be a citizen of the United States.

This argument is flawed because the individual Member States, as sovereign political entities, have an absolute right to protect our borders to illegal aliens regardless of the constitution or the power to grant the federal government.

Excellent post! Very, very helpful!! I love it!

The author really nails it here. I can't find a word to change and I find the logic completely convincing and irrefutable.

It's hard to believe that some people try to cram illegal immigration into the Commerce Clause so the feds can get involved! It's even more amazing when these same people claim they support the Constitution's original intent and 10th amendment! It would be laughable if it weren't so serious...

I can only add the almost comical observation that California checks my car for forbidden fruits and vegetables at the Oregon/California border when I cross from my home in Southern Oregon to visit a friend in Northern California. Let's see.... they can police the border for vegetables but they can't stop illegals? You've got to be kidding me!!! Is this world crazy????
