Do a little research on the debt created during the Revolutionary War by the Continental Army, the 'script' written to pay for these expenses; and, then, to the effort Hamilton made to discount that 'script' to the holders (citizens) while he bartered the paper to wealthy lender and banks in Europe at enormous profits. Notwithstanding ANYTHING he may have written or spoke, his hidden agenda was the same as most all of them.

As a society, we have lost the notion of integrity in almost every discipline. Evidence the media showing only the shoulder-down view of the young man in Arizona with his automatic weapon slung over his shoulder...just to name one example.

Term limitation is the only answer to prevent this facet of our elected officials. Either pay them according to their value or pay them nothing and force them to steal everything they can in a short period!!!

With all due respect to Mr. Rothbard, there is no great "Jefferson versus Hamilton" debate, just widespread ignorance of the Constitution and its history, IMO. The truth of the matter is that Hamilton wrongly forced a politically correct interpretation of the general welfare clause (Article I, Sec. 8, Clause 1) to get Pres. Washington to sign national bank bill into law. Jefferson, on the other hand, had fought Hamilton's national bank idea, noting that the Founding States had rejected the idea of giving banking powers to the federal government at the constitutional convention.

The bottom line is that Jefferson promoted the idea of properly amending the Constitution to expressly delegate to the federal government some power that it was seeking, and to which the states agree, instead of forcing politically correct interpretations of the Constitution, as Hamilton did, to create such power.

I think American's are finally beginning to grasp what Jefferson was really all about. Is it any wonder that an America admiring the British model has become the kind of nation that we fought against in the Revolutionary War and William Wallace fought centuries earlier?
