Well they tried to cram Real id down our throats. We resisted. they backed off.

If the FedGov succeeds in cramming this down our throats, I sincerely hope that when the state security organs come around to do a little anonymous scanning of the RFIDs of average citizens, there will be a near 100% rate of people being homebodies – or, I should say, that the IDs will be left at home. You can’t be anonymously tagged at a forbidden activity if you left your tag at home. We need to start looking at all this surveillance with a tactical eye, i.e. with a view to defeating everything that we cannot prevent in the first place.

NO REAL ID (or anything resembling it). I lived and taught in China for five years. Every Chinese is required to have an ID. They can be used to restrict travel from one area of China to another. In fact, Chinese must have “permission” to move to another city. Americans do not want that!

Something like the REAL-ID presents itself as soft tyranny to lure the masses into trading their security for freedom. If you look at how identification requirements, etc. were staged and upscaled in nazi germany, you see a frightening parallel between those events and what is happening here in america. It is good to see that many states are rejecting this ridiculous proposed law. As if having a drivers license, passport and social security number was identifying us enough!

The thing I never got about REAL ID was that if it was soo vital to American Security (which I think is complete and utter bullshit just to be clear), then why the hell did it take FOUR years after September 11th to be passed, especially when there had not been a subsequent attack on US soil?

I’d love for someone to explain the rationale behind that one. Is just a little logic beyond the intellectual grasp of the establishment.

Tomas – that’s just where it’s being sent. And that’s where plenty more unconstitutional “laws” need to go too. Hopefully, this state-level resistance to real id shows people just the way it can be done.
